Last week we heard from Brett Duer, STEAM teacher at Pacific Ridge Elementary, who teaches all 600 K-5 grade students through hands-on projects that blend
science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Supported by grant funding, Brett’s classes spark curiosity and career readiness with activities like coding and robotics,
fish egg hatching and releasing, micro green growing, nature journaling, digital art, straw rockets, snowflake studies, Makerspace creations and Neurographic Art.
His work inspires students to ask questions, solve problems and make connections across disciplines. Brett’s enthusiasm for teaching shines through and hearing
about his work was a real treat!
